Technical Information

How is EWI Installed?
EWI installation takes 7–10 days across five steps: the wall is inspected, cleaned and primed; insulation boards are fixed using adhesive and/or mechanical fixings; corner, base and movement beads are applied; a 6mm fiberglass-reinforced basecoat is troweled over the boards; and once dry (up to 72 hours), a final render or brick-slip finish is applied — leaving a durable, weather-resistant exterior that improves both insulation and kerb appeal.
What are the Different Types of Finishes?
You can choose from:
- Thin coat synthetic finishes: Available in silicone, acrylic, or silicate plasters, offering various colors and textures.
- Thick coat mineral renders: Can be finished with dry dash aggregate or scraped back for a textured look.
- Natural finishes: Opt for brick slips or brick-effect render.
When selecting a finish, consider your desired texture and color, as well as the durability required for your building's type and use. Your specialist contractor can advise on the best choice for your property.
