Case Study: The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (Ongoing)
Emily : Nov 20, 2024 3:26:16 PM
The following case study explores how EEH-Solutions have contributed to the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) grant scheme – focusing on the internal operations of applying new material. Under Settle Homes, EEH-Solutions have partnered alongside a Wates Group contractor, acting as an External Wall Insulation (EWI) subcontractor, conducting all enabling works, surveys, PAS documentation, quality and building control as well as project and site management. These operations included working on retrofit projects on a larger scale within North Hertfordshire.
Currently, the scope of work for EEH-Solutions is, approximately, 450 homes to be completed by April 2025. This includes completing 25 EWI installations, working toward handover.
Providing an example of a completed work; EEH-Solutions installed EWI on a home within North Hertfordshire. The before and after are as follows:
A main contribution EEH-Solutions have introduced is the development of a new product that is unlike any material utilised before, in that it assists with mitigating low temperatures, weather and the dry and application times of EWI and render - the installation of 110mm of rockwool with Weber XP and Weber Wall brick. Utilising these first time products, EEH-Solutions are now able to work under the heritage sites of Letchworth Garden City. As a result, all installations are now being conducted with a mechanical render spray.
EEH-Solutions approach toward work has always, consistently, been working in batches as to focus on communities located in any given area. This is considered an advantage for both EEH-Solutions and the community, as there is a mutual benefit on the work of various homes and the upgrading of aesthetics throughout the overall location.
